Writing articles for the trade press is the most
effective self promotion tool today. Think of it this way.
What magazines do you subscribe to? What is in those
magazines that causes you to read them? Information - right?
Who do you think writes this information?
Business people like you - that's who. If business people
didn't write them, you wouldn't read them. You need to trust
the information and what better trust is there then knowing that
the person writing, is a person who had lived it.
So what do you know about? What hobby are
you passionate about? What business experience can you pass
on to the new business who is struggling to stay ahead of the
game?

But be careful. If you are not a writer, you
may do more harm then good. People get an impression of you and your
company based in large on what you write. What impression do you want
them to have?
This is the age on information, and if you are
not dispensing it, then you are receiving it. Either way,
someone has to write it. Magazines need new and creative
articles in order to keep their readership up. That article could be yours
with your byline.
